Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- You've heard of the dirty dozen? Well, tonight, it's the dirty half dozen.Contact 13's Darcy Spears has six restaurants to talk about on Dirty Dining. They include everything from mold to overflowing porta potties. We begin with a 34-demerit C grade at a Dirty Dining repeat offender.PHOTOS: Diamond China RestaurantWe're greeted at Diamond China by the smiling faces of Carolyn and Oscar Goodman in a picture on the restaurant's front counter, just above a discreetly posted C grade. That C was in full view when health inspectors were there. What do you suppose the Goodmans would think knowing this restaurant is making its third appearance on Dirty Dining.Darcy Spears: And we just need to talk to whoever's in charge.
Employee: Boss not here.
Darcy: Who's in charge right now?
Employee: Nobody in charge. As we talk to employees, customers talk about Action News. They know exactly why we've dropped by Diamond China, but the employees don't seem to know how to handle our visit. When inspectors were at Diamond China, they found a whole lot of food in the temperature danger zone.A lid growing mold was covering chicken. And greasy cardboard was covering something else. There was raw chicken sitting on top of a box of produce.A cutting board sitting on wet, mildewy towels growing mold. And a dirty, blood-stained freezer floor. We try again to talk to someone.Darcy: Someone has to be in charge.
Employee: No, they in charge, but the boss go out already, no can do.When we remind her that they can't operate without someone in charge on premises, she says that person doesn't speak English. Then the story about the boss changes.Darcy: You said the boss just left and now you're saying he's in Los Angeles? We ask them to call him, but they say his phone is busy.Employee: When the boss come back, we call you, okay?
Darcy: Ok. Let me leave you my card. The boss never called. He may not want to talk to Contact 13, but he will have to meet with the Health District due to ongoing compliance issues. Our list of imminent health hazard closures begins with another repeat offender.Pachuca Hidalgo's food truck has been on Dirty Dining four times!PHOTOS: Pachuca Hidalgo Catering The most recent shut down was for lack of adequate refrigeration. And inspectors photographed something we've never seen before... a car engine part sitting on top of peeled onions.Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits on Maryland Parkway and Tropicana had a health hazard of a different kind.Health inspectors validated a complaint that there was no employee restroom.Workers had to use portable toilets outside with foot-pump handwash stations.Inspectors found two of the three overflowing with waste.Terrible Herbst convenience store shares restroom facilities with Popeye's, so Terrible's snack bar was shut down too.The person in charge told inspectors the restrooms have been out of order for about three months due to a sewer line collapse.Next up? Pupuseria El Cordero at the Broadacres swap meet in North Las Vegas--shut down for lack of adequate refrigerationPHOTOS: Pupuseria El CorderoAnd finally, Smith's grocery store deli on Jones and Vegas Drive failed re-inspection from a previous C grade.PHOTOS: Smith's DeliTheir biggest violation? Potentially hazardous foods at unsafe temperatures.Diamond China still has a C grade. Terrible Herbst's snack bar and Popeye's are back open with A grades. All the rest are still closed.
