Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Excessive violations cause the shut down of another Chinatown restaurant in this week's Dirty Dining report. Old, spoiled food was one of the biggest problems.Nestled between a foot spa and an insurance office, there's Booming Pot on Decatur and Spring Mountain.The Chinese hot pot restaurant, which also goes by the name Booming Spot Mini Pot, was shut down by the health district with 50 demerits on Dec. 1. A week later, they were still closed. The health district said they paid their $716 closure fee and scheduled re-inspection, but when Contact 13 stopped by, it hadn't happened yet. The lights were off and nobody was home.Inspectors saw multiple handwashing violations, including handling ready-to-eat food with bare hands. Someone touching their face then handling food, and not washing hands after handling raw meat.As for the food itself, there was chicken soup that had been expired for more than a week. There were also several potentially hazardous foods labeled only in Chinese that had been expired more than a month. There was one that was more than two months old.The health district's pictures show a lot of stuff haphazardly thrown into bins and carelessly stored. Like open food on the fridge floor. Food without labels or dates. Meat stored in plastic grocery bags. Clean pots on a dirty floor. Uncovered food in both the fridge and dry storage.Cooked meat, chicken, pork and cut cabbage were in the temperature danger zone.There was no sneeze guard over the self-serve sauce buffet.The freezer floor was far from clean, and there was dried food debris on supposedly clean knives.They were also using dirty wiping cloths on prep surfaces.The person in charge was not knowledgeable about proper cooling procedures or safe food temperatures.Contact 13 learned that Booming Pot was re-inspected late Tuesday afternoon.They re-opened with a three-demerit A grade.
