Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Health inspectors shut down a restaurant. And the restaurant blames the Health District!Darcy Spears has this week's Dirty Dining.Six times in one report. That's how often the word "dirty" appears in the May 12 health inspection for Inka Grill on South Eastern near Serene. You'll also find the words "spoiled," "moldy," "slime" and "blood."Inka Grill was shut down with 50 demerits after inspectors found food so spoiled and moldy it was unidentifiable.Food was being prepped in a dirty sink full of dirty kitchenwares.Ice scoops were stored on a dirty shelf. There was a dirty scoop with caked on food debris.Dirty utensils and kitchenwares were stored as clean in dirty storage containers. And tongs were hung on the handle of very dirty oven.Maybe that explains why an employee had to keep Pepto Bismol at work. When we go looking for answers, an Inka Grill employee asks us to wait for the owner, who she says is coming. As we wait, we've got an audience outside. People very curious about what else inspectors found--like frozen animal blood in the bottom of freezer.Pink slime and mold in the ice machine.Sticky, black build-up on soda nozzles. And black mold in floor sinks. They were also storing meat and poultry in t-shirt bags, thawing seafood in a bucket of standing water, and there was such heavy build-up of soot and grease over the food prep area that inspectors worried it could potentially contaminate food. When we go back to find out where the owner is, things get weird. The employee tells us she can't reach the owner over the phone. Then she changes her story to say the owner is out of town. Then she gives us another number to call, but refuses to call it herself. After that, the chef comes out of the kitchen to videotape us with his cell phone. And then, they call Henderson police, who quickly check in and leave without talking to us.We eventually spoke to the owner on the phone, who said they can't make the Health District happy and they're getting sick of the whole inspection process. He said different inspectors write up different things and what's okay one time is not okay the next. After two days of shutdown, Inka Grill was reinspected and re-opened with a 3-demerit A grade.
